A spelling packet is being sent home today. Students should complete one page a day and turn it in on Friday. This packet includes the spelling list for this week. Remember, our goal is to have children understand word patterns rather than memorize words. This week’s spelling pattern is ‘-at’.

Spelling
Dear kindergarten families,
Spelling will begin next week. Your child will have 8 spelling words each week. Four of the words will fit a pattern. For example, this week we will study the –at word family. Your child will be given hot words within the –at family to study on Monday. The cold words will be given to them when they receive their spelling test, and will look different than the hot words, but will still come from the same word family. The purpose of the cold words is to see if your child can apply the studied pattern for the week. The last four words will be from the DOLCH spelling list. (Basic high-frequency words). Please have your child practice spelling activities at home. I will send home the spelling list every Monday. We will have a test every Friday, unless there is no school on Friday. In that case, we will have the test on Thursday.
Thank you,
Ms. Abulhassan

Happy New Year!
Dear families,
I hope you had a wonderful and restful holiday break with your beautiful children. I truly missed them all, and cannot wait to see them tomorrow! I will be sending home the new newsletter tomorrow with classroom updates. Here are some photos from our holiday celebration. Sorry for the delay; I took advantage of this long break to focus on family and rest. 🙂
Holiday Day Celebration
Dear Kindergarten families,
On Thursday, December 20, 2018, children will be decorating gingerbread men. In order to cover the cost of edible decorations for the gingerbread men, we are asking for a $3 dollar donation by Monday, December 17, 2018. This experience will provide our children with a hands-on opportunity to use their creativity. On this day, students will also be able to wear pajamas and have pizza as a reward for their hard work. Thank you in advance for your support!

Classroom Donations
For an upcoming social studies lesson, students will be sorting pictures of needs and wants. We will need magazines or store ads for this activity.
I am running low on copy paper and hand sanitizer.
All donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Thankgiving Celebration
I meant to make this post earlier, but I was away over break spending time with loved ones. I sincerely wanted to thank all the wonderful families who helped make our Thanksgiving feast an amazing experience for the kids. They loved it. As I told your beautiful children, Thanksgiving is not just about eating great food, it is a reminder of how blessed we truly are to have each other. It is about embracing all we have and appreciating the gift of giving, togetherness, and love. Thank you for allowing me to teach your children. They remind me each and every day why I decided to be a teacher. As much as I give them, it will never amount to what they give me.
Love and blessings to all,
Ms. Abulhassan
