A big thank you goes to Justin Chang and his family! They donated a wonderful heavy duty electric pencil sharpener to room 112! We will cherish it!
The students have a bit of homework tonight! (all very managable) The students do know what is expected of them!
Please also remember that tomorrow is Library book check out! Bring those books back:)
Have great evening and enjoy the beautiful weather! Fondly, Mrs. Malone
Spelling tests didn’t go home on Tuesday! Your children were so engaged in using a hand lens and looking at rocks that we ran out of time. Please ask them what they saw with their lens!
On to spelling: It is expected that children practice at home each day, learn the word, so that they recognize it in their books, as well as spelling correctly in their writing. They will receive a score for spelling (# correct/#possible), as well as a handwriting score (#/10). It is expected that all children will be able to achieve a 10/10 on handwriting by 2018! Please do not expect this right away. We are practicing and learning higher level handwriting skills (letter formation, sizing, spacing, alignment, and more) in all academic areas. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me!
Math: We have started a math unit that will work on place value number concepts. Tonight’s homework is the Home Connection for this unit. Also, included with the homework is a parent letter that will fill you in on what we will be learning about over the next two weeks. Please keep this at home as it has suggestions for things you can do to help develop key concepts.
Reading: We are working on strategies to help us check for understanding by asking questions who?, what?, where?, why?, when? and how? Please ask your child to model this at home as they are reading to you.
Thank you also for your time in filling out the questionnaire about your children! Getting to know each other is extremely important!
Have a wonderful day! Mrs. Malone
