Perfect Attendance!

Congratulations Room 112!  We had an amazing November! Out of 19 students 12 had perfect attendance.  That speaks to the students as well as the families that support them.  As their teacher, I want to say THANK YOU!  Research shows that a childs attendance is one of the biggest factors in determining academic success. Just by being present at school, students are not only influencing their academics they are also learning how to be good citizens, they feel more connected to their school community, develop important social skills and friendships. Thank you parents for preparing your child for a lifetime of success by making regular school attendance a priority!  These students will also be recognized at the next assembly!

Do you believe that we are into December already!?  As some of you may already know the Student Lighthouse is organizing a winter hat and glove drive!  They are asking Whitmore students and families to bring in NEW winter hats and gloves.  They will be donated to a local charity.  We will be collecting them through Friday, December 15th.  We have a box located right in our room.  Let’s help people stay warm!

Spelling words are the -ai and -ay spelling pattern.  My error, I forgot to underline the other two spelling words in the sentence.  play and rain.

Math 3.6. I am so proud at how well the children are doing with subtraction!  Keep it up!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  I hope you have safe travels and full bellies:)  We talked quite a bit about what we are all thankful for today and you should all be very proud of your children!  We had a great time making our blessings mix.  I want to thank everyone who donated.  I hope you enjoy your sample bag!

Here are a few pictures, one serious and of course one goofy!  With our new table set up, I had to take it crooked!

Last but not least, make sure your child reads this weekend!  Plus, our new student starts Monday!

Today’s Updates!

First, there will be no spelling test tomorrow we will be having it on Monday.

Secondly, for math…Please have your child complete the problem in the numerous ways we’ve been learning. After they have completed their work, have them circle in red the way that was most difficult and in green the way(s) that were easiest. Thank you! I’m posting an example of what we did in class in case you need to reference it.

Last but not least, tomorrow is the last day to bring in cans to help the battle against hunger.  The students are loving being able to take them to Mrs. Waddell’s office!

Thanksgiving Blessing’s Mix

Good evening all!  As the kids will tell you Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!  So I would like to do an activity with them that I have done with my own children.  On Tuesday, November 21st we will be celebrating all we have to be grateful for. I love Thanksgiving and to me it is a chance to pause and reflect on what’s really important.  So to start us off on the being grateful season, our class will be creating something that represents what’s important in our lives.  If you are able to donate something to our celebration, please use this link to sign up.  Items should be brought to school by Monday.  Room 112 would be grateful for you!
