HI, everyone- we tried REALLY hard to get out to see your smiling faces but due to the Governor’s restrictions and a district directive we are not going to do the parade on Thursday! It certainly doesn’t mean we aren’t thinking about you, it means we are obeying the request to stay safely at home. We think about you all the time, miss your sweet faces and your smiles. Stay safe and we’ll see you as soon as possible!!!!
Hope this finds everyone well! How about a simple fold and color for today? Take a sheet of paper- it can be a square or a rectangle. Fold it in half (horizontally if you are using a rectangle). Then in half again. Open it and re-fold it using the folds you made so that the top and bottom portions meet to make a page and the two middle sections get folded to the inside. Create a person, fish, turtle, alien, animal, character, etc. , that has the top part of the face on the top quarter and the bottom of the face on the bottom quarter. Open it up and have fun adding a big mouth in between! I am making it sound hard BUT it is not so I will add some pictures for you….
Have fun making some funny faces, you could add other elements, too- like bodies and backgrounds and have them stretch over your paper! Be creative.
Stay safe, get some fresh air, help around the house, do your school work, Be Kind and check back tomorrow for some easy folding ideas- Origami!!!!
The staff was really looking forward to this and it was decided that it will still happen! Please watch from your window, porch or sidewalk BUT don’t go near the street or the cars! Stay back so we all comply with social distancing- but….we can’t wait to see you on Thursday starting at 12:15!!!
Due to the new restrictions from the Governor, our Staff Parade is NOT going to happen on Thursday! We were so looking forward to seeing everyone. Please follow the guidelines put out by Governor Whitmer- stay safe! Hope to see you all soon!

We want to spread some River Oaks love with our community: Thursday, March 26th at noon (12pm)! Shout out to Mrs. Sandi for organizing this parade!
We are lucky to have our very own River Oaks staff leading our school community parade through the neighborhood. Families- we will post where we are heading as we parade through your neighborhood.
We WILL be mindful of social distancing and safety and therefore we will be remaining in our cars and will NOT be stopping. Look for us in our cars as we will be waving, honking, smiling, and maybe even throwing out some extra love!
We encourage you to wear your River Oaks pride shirts, or River Oaks colors. Feel free to wave from your windows or come out on your front porches. Want to get creative? Maybe even make a special poster to shout out some love to your special teachers and staff members.
We can’t wait to see all your smiling faces as we have missed you all dearly.
We will be leaving the school parking lot around 12:15 and head down Garling and through that neighborhood, then cross over to the neighborhood behind the school. Next we will head down Ann Arbor Trail to the University Dr. Neighborhood. Then over to Parkland and that surrounding neighborhood. From there we head down Ann Arbor Trail and towards the Military Hills neighborhoods across from English Gardens. Over to Hazelton, Virgil, Riverdale, Riverview, Appleton, Grayfield and Dale. It will be about 40 minutes throughout the neighborhoods so please wait for us we promise not to miss anyone.
Looking forward to see your smiles!!!!
Hope everyone is well and ready for another week at home but AT school! I was thinking it might be nice to mix it up a bit with a little paper folding art. You can watch the video and/or follow along with the step by step directions. I usually do this later in the spring but I love folding paper, so I thought it might get you hooked, too. You can do a lot of really cool things by just folding a sheet of paper! Send me some photos of the boats you make! As always- be safe, do your schoolwork, help around the house and Be Kind!
Well, our first week is nearly over and WE DID IT!!! Hope everyone is well and that you are getting your school work done, getting outside for some fresh air, reading and that you are doing some ART! I have really enjoyed the pictures of what you are doing- makes me miss everyone EVEN more, but I love that you are focused, creative and THINKING! Keep it up.
Today I am offering two pages of shapes for making things that are that shape OR for making up things that could be that shape OR for doing close ups of things around you OR for making some really cool doodles. Fill in the triangles or circles, or both, with patterns, or close ups or little ideas that you have that could turn into something bigger. You can do this in pencil, pen, marker, etc…..
Hope you have some fun with these- you can do them anytime and they just might make you come up with an idea for a drawing, or a sculpture or a story you need to write, or almost anything!
Have a great weekend- be safe, be helpful at home and be kind! Miss you all!!!!
