Today you will get your LAST two art assignments! They are both due by the end of the day, Friday, June 5. That means you have 11 days to do these and any art work you need to finish to end the year.

FIRST GRADE: WACKY BIRD (Assignment 1)

Using the ideas sheet and any materials you want to use- crayons, markers, paint, chalk, cut paper, wrapping paper, sticks, brown paper from a bag, yarn, toothpicks…… pick ONE idea from each category and create the WACKIEST Bird possible!

Make sure your bird has one from each category- a body, a set of eyes, a beak/mouth, feet/legs, a tail, wings and some type of addition to the top of its head!!

Again- any material you want to use is FINE, be creative, experiment, have fun and make the Wackiest Bird ever!!! Send me a picture of it that has your first and last name and the name of your teacher. Send it to my email: zecharj@dearbornschools.org

FIRST GRADE: DESIGNER SHOES (Assignment 2)

If you could design your own set of high top tennis shoes, what would they look like? They could have wheels, jet packs, wings, skis, whatever you want. Make the interesting and colorful! You can use any materials you have on hand. Make them fun, make them something you would want if it was possible AND make them so cool that we would ALL want to buy a pair!

When you think they are the very best they can be and that they would sell out fast, send me a picture that includes your first and last name and the name of your teacher. Send it to my email: zecharj@dearbornschools.org

These are the last two assignments for this school year!!! Make sure you do your best and send them to me so I can give you credit and mark your report card that you have participated in art while we we away from school!!

SECOND GRADE: FOLDED CATS (Assignment 1)

Today you will get your LAST two art assignments! They are both due by the end of the day, Friday, June 5. That means you have 11 days to do these and any work you need to finish to end the year.

Here are two ways that you can make a cat- you can print a template OR you can draw a long rectangle and add a head on top before you cut it out. The examples shown will help. The arms are built in, you just have to cut the line so that you can manipulate them! That means you can roll them, fold them, curve them, bend them….. You need another thin rectangle that can be added as a tail. You can fold, bend, zig zag, however you would like to add character to your cat. BEFORE you cut the cat and tail out- you need to design it! Use crayons, markers, paint- whatever. How about making them the most colorful cats ever? Not cat colored at all, maybe cosmic, or patterned or galaxy like, or flowered, or ….????? You will need a base to glue it on to- a rectangle or oval of paper will work. Design that, too! If you had a cosmic cat it might be on the Milky Way, or a patterned cat could be on a patterned rug, or a flowered cat could be in a flower bed….BE CREATIVE! Tie the design you used on the cat to the base so it looks like it all goes together.

When your cat is the BEST possible example of a WILD cat, send me a photo with your first and last name and the name of your teacher. Send it to my email: zecharj@dearbornschools.org

SECOND GRADE: ANDY WARHOL SOUP CANS (Assignment 2)

Some of his famous soup cans……

Born as Andy Warhola

Born: August 6, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Died: February 22, 1987, in New York City, New York

Occupation: Artist, Painter, Sculptor

Famous works: Campbell’s Soup Cans, Marilyn Monroe, Moonwalk, Eight Elvises

Style/Period: Pop Art- short for Popular Art (everyday things!!!)

Our turn to make some soup cans; here is a template for four, he liked to repeat the images he used. You can come up with your own kind of soup and design the cans to go with the type of soup. If you want to draw your own cans you can seed how to do it below.

Peanut Butter Soup? Ah, don’t know about that……

Make 4 different flavors- and four different can designs! Have some fun coming up with interesting types of soups- we don’t have to eat them, we just want to see what we come up with.

When you are done, please send me a picture and include your first and last name and the name of your teacher. Send it to my email: zecharj@dearbornschools.org

Remember: ALL ART ASSIGNMENTS are due to my email by the end of the day on Friday, June 5!!! These are the last two assignments for this school year!!! Make sure you do your best and send them to me so I can give you credit and mark your report card that you have participated in art while we we away from school!!

As always- do all of your school work, get outside for fresh air, help out at home and Be Kind!
