FIRST GRADE: Unicorn Directed Drawing

Let’s have some fun with Unicorns. You can use the drawing sheet to see the steps-BUT let’s design them them differently! Okay, they could be the cute, colorful, rainbow-y ones we are used to OR we could make them super funny- like a clown, or a pirate or a cowboy, a policeman, a doctor, a baby, or maybe a cow, or a singer or even a movie star- YOU decide!

The words are hard to read so just follow the picture instructions!

Color it with whatever you have- crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint- you could add other paper, yarn, whatever you have on hand. Make it interesting and fun! Send me a photo: zecharj@dearbornschools.org Don’t forget to add your first and last name and the name of your teacher so I can give you credit!

SECOND GRADE: Moving Caterpillar!

Watch the video to see how to make the caterpillars. We are going to change it up a bit…

So, let’s start with a rectangle of paper. It should be about 2 inches by 8 inches. Ask an adult to help you measure that out. You might want to have them help you cut a few rectangles to make a lot of caterpillars. Before you fold and cut them, put some designs on the top of the paper- lines, polka dots, squiggles, stripes of color, flowers, scales….. When you are happy with what you have designed you can go back and fold them. Make sure your designed side is on top. Match up the two short sides and fold. Open it up and fold the two short sides in to the middle fold you just made. Next fold the short outside edge into the middle. The fold that in half. You are going to round the two short edges to make it look like segments of the caterpillar. Do both of the short sides- don’t cut off too much. Unfold it and add eyes and a face to one end. Using your straw try blowing to make it move! Have fun. You can always go back and watch the video again to make sure you are doing it right!

Send me a picture of your caterpillar(s)- include your first and last name and the name of your teacher so I can give you credit!
