Hi, everyone…I made a daily schedule of when I will be posting art assignments. I know you have a lot on your plate so I thought this might help! The students have a whole week to do their assignment, it is due by the next time I post for the grade- which means 7 days. Please let me know what they did or send a photo through dojo or my email (tell me your teachers name!) :
Mondays: ASD/Young 5 AND Kindergarten
Tuesdays: First and Second Grades
Wednesdays: Third Grade
Thursdays: Fourth Grade
Fridays: Fifth Grade
Today we are going to work with Typography and Landscapes! First of all, here is the technical definition of Typography:
Visual art form
Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable, and appealing when displayed. The arrangement of type involves selecting typefaces, point sizes, line lengths, line-spacing, and letter-spacing, and adjusting the space between pairs of letters.
You might be thinking, hmmmm….what can we do with that? We are going to sketch a landscape, or cityscape, or waterscape- your choice, examples will follow. Inside each element of your scape you will fill in the shape with words related to it- like color, function, memories you might have about it… but first things first- we need to draw something to fill in. I am going to include some ideas but you are welcome to use them as starting blocks and create your own!!!

Once you have your scape down, the fun starts. Using a color- pencil, marker, crayon- that would be the same color as the element of your drawing, and instead of just coloring it in- fill the element in with words related to it.
Some examples: for grass- green, cool, have to mow; for a building- tall, windows!, elevator: for water- swim, cool, blue, fish?
Here are some examples:

Who knew you could make art out of words! Have fun and please share with me on your class dojo or through my email: zecharj@dearbornschools.org
As always, make sure you are doing all of your schoolwork, it is supposed to be a nice day (?) so get outside for awhile, be helpful around the house and Be Kind!
