All assignments and journals will be collected the week of April 13th-18th.Students are encouraged to use all available online resources (google classroom-google docs, Suite 360 A2 ,appropriate internet sites, mi-star) .
Week #1 March 16th-20th -Students are encouraged to keep a weekly journal listing physical activity minutes (any activity raising heart rate near or in target zone).
Week #2-March 23rd-27th- Students research age related target heart rate zones, resting heart rate, and record a short summary in journal to be turned first week when schools re-open. Check your heart rate for one minute in the morning, after activity, and before bed (compare/contrast the differences in journal).
Week # 3- March 30th-April 3rd- Students will record all food / drink consumption for one day, try to add up all calories based on food labels .Break down one pop / beverage label in regard to sugar, calories per serving and record in journal.
Play 48- Daily Health Related Activities- students are encouraged to remain active and play 48 minutes a day, be safe in regard to recommended contact with other people/ students! Any student who reads this and records one week of of total activity minutes will be eligible for a grade reset( a full grade increase e.g.- current grade is C+/ grade is raised to B+) !
Smith Open House
All parents and students are welcome to the Physical Education Department for open house Wednesday September 12th (6-7:30 pm)! Hope to see a lot of students and parents! Gym A/B will be open for a tour, as well as the pool area! My goal is to provide all students with a fitness plan to lead to a long heart healthy life!
Our spring fitness campaign is underway. Students are working hard to improve cardio endurance , our “sign the poster” positive reward incentive gives all students a chance to experience the satisfaction of signing the poster after accomplishing individual goals. All students are working on personal fitness plans for the summer, please encourage your kids to be fit for life and join in the fun!!

Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal
School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”
If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.
