All Aboard Lindbergh Kindegartners!

Dear Families,

On Friday, our class had our “Pancakes and Pajamas” party. Come join me as we recap the highlights from the magical photographs from Aston’s mom and Aleksander’s mom.

The party started down in the cafeteria. Ali’s dad did a fantastic job making delicious pancakes for 23 students. Aleksander’s mom, MacKenzie’s mom and I quickly served these hot- off- the- griddle pancakes as fast as Ali’s dad produced them. The students enjoyed the pancakes topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and syrup. Take a look at Lindbergh’s Pancake House!

As we walked down the hall towards our classroom, we noticed mysterious tracks in the hallway leading into our classroom. Next, we could hear the ringing of bells and sounds of “All Aboard” echoing from Room 114.

Our classroom had been mysteriously transformed into the Polar Express.

The students quickly came aboard the Polar Express. Our clever conductor rang his bell for the final time and announced “All Aboard” as only he could magically do it.
The kindergarten passengers’ eyes were completely mesmerized to the big screen as we took our Polar Express Train ride.

After the train boarded, the passengers selected six different Polar Express stations to do.

A very popular one was the Polar Express Train station where Aston’s dad set up their personal Polar Express train so students could view the train in motion.

The students loved decorating their own train that was made out of a few graham crackers, hot glue and lots of special treats,

We had our own Hot Chocolate bar where students not only sipped delicious hot chocolate but made really cute snowman out of marshmallows.

The students mixed and measure different ingredients to make Reindeer food.

The student even designed a Jingle Bell necklace while counting and making patterns.

Many thanks to everyone who donated their time, money and supplies to make this special gathering for our kindergarten class. Special thanks to Aston’s mom and dad, Dominic’s mom, Enna’s mom, Lilly’s mom, Olivia’s mom, Aleksander’s mom, Maggie and Molly’s mom, Ali’s dad, and MacKenzie’s mom.

Enjoy the winter break and I’ll see you in 2017!

A Few More Things Needed!

Dear Family,

As our Pancakes and Pajama party get closer, there are a few more items needed:

* green, red, and white cans of frosting for decorating

* a fog machine ( it is a “want” but would be really cool if we could borrow one)

If every student could bring in an empty shoe box labeled with your child’s name on it. We are making something special and fragile and need something that it could go home in.

Many thanks!

Ms. Wright

Juice Boxes Needed

Dear Families,

We need some juice to wash down those delicious pancakes we will be eating during Friday’s Pancakes and Pajamas party. If you could send in 25 juice boxes on Friday, please leave a comment below!

Thanks!

Help!

Dear Families,

We are looking for an electric griddle to use for our Pancake and Pajama party on Friday. If you have one, we can use, please let me know.

Thanks so much!

Week of December 19, 2016

Dear Families,

December is the most popular month for birthdays in our class. Last week we celebrated the birthdays of Maryam, Enna and Jacob. Look at the fancy cupcakes!

Last week we had a great time studying different versions of the Gingerbread Man. The kindergartners wrote excellent opinions about what they thought the Gingerbread Man should do when he gets to the river. Ask your child what they wrote down for their opinion. We also wondered what would happen if the Gingerbread Man went in the river. So of course we had to experiment with this to see what would really happen. Here are some of pictures:

Needless to say, the Gingerbread Man would not last long in the river!

Here is what you need to know for this week:

Words of the Week: be have

Monday: Please return Nightly Reading Homework, book bag and poetry journal. We did not check out new library books last week due to the Santa Shop in the Media Center. We will go to gym and art today.

Tuesday: We will go to the Media Center to check out new books and have music with Mrs. Baloga.

Wednesday: Late Start! School starts at 9:35 a.m. We will have an excellent guest teacher named Ms. Amanda. She is very familiar with Lindbergh School and is very kind to young children.

Thursday: We will have music with Mrs. Baloga.

Friday: Your child is welcome to wear “school appropriate” pajamas for our “Pancakes and Pancake Party!” Your child use still wear regular shoes to school, but can bring house slippers to wear in the classroom. Your child may bring in one stuffed animal but please no pillows or blankets. Our party will start at 8:45 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. We will go to the computer lab and gym. We also have our PBIS reward too, so it will be a busy day!

Thanks for all of the donations you sent in last week. Our homeroom moms have been working really hard to make an exciting party for our lucky kindergartners. Many of you have asked if there is anything else we need, we will post needed items on the blog. At dismissal time, please pick up your child from our classroom since they will be taking many things home and we don’t want to leave anything over the break. This is for Friday only.

Until next time…
Ms. Wright

Santa Shop Update

Dear Families.

Our class will go to the Santa Shop tomorrow, Wednesday, December 14 at 10:15 a.m. Please make sure to go over your child’s shopping list with them tonight so they know who they are shopping for tomorrow. Please place the Santa Shop envelope in your child’s red folder. Each item is $2.00.

We have some very excited shoppers over here! 🙂

Week of December 12, 2016

Dear Families,

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful SNOW DAY today! Since we are still in our jammies over here, I wanted to personally invite you to our:

and

PARTY!

This party will take place on Friday, December 23, from 8:45-11:00 a.m. We need lots of enthusiastic volunteers, so please let me know if you can help us. Tomorrow we will be sending home an envelope in your child’s red folder, in hopes for donations of $3.00 to help us purchase supplies needed for the party. Thanks!

Now with the weather officially feeling like winter, there are a couple of things you need to know to
help your child be prepared for outdoor recess. We will go outside for recess if it feels like it is 20 degrees or warmer. If there is snow on the ground, your child will need to wear snowpants and boots in order to play on the playground. Otherwise, your child will play on the blacktop only. Please make sure all winter clothes (boots, snowpants, gloves, etc) are clearly marked with your child’s name.

Here is what you need to know for this week:

Words of the week: in my

Poetry: Gingerbread

Reading: We will be reading different versions of the Gingerbread Man so we can practice comparing, contrasting and retelling the stories. These are important strategies for good readers to master.

Writing: We will be writing opinions about the Gingerbread man and boy.

Math: We are completing Unit 3 this week. All of our math workshop stations will involve the gingerbread man and counting strategies.

Science: We will be finishing our unit on pushes and pulls.

Social Studies: The students will orally be given a 10 question district assessment on needs/wants and goods/services. But no worries, the students will do great on this assessment since we have covered all the concepts in class and during our field trip.

Tuesday: Your child will need to return their library book, book bag, and poetry journal today. We will go to music with Mrs. Baloga. We will not be checking out books due to the Santa Shop in the Media Center.

Thursday: We will go to music with Mrs.Baloga.

Friday: Popcorn Friday! We will go to the computer lab with Mrs. Ackerman and gym with Mr. Murua.

Santa Shop: Information and envelopes were placed in your child’s red folder on Friday. Our class will be shopping either Wednesday or Thursday. I will post tomorrow when I know for sure!

Enjoy the first official snow day of kindergarten!
