Dear Families,
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful SNOW DAY today! Since we are still in our jammies over here, I wanted to personally invite you to our:
and
PARTY!
This party will take place on Friday, December 23, from 8:45-11:00 a.m. We need lots of enthusiastic volunteers, so please let me know if you can help us. Tomorrow we will be sending home an envelope in your child’s red folder, in hopes for donations of $3.00 to help us purchase supplies needed for the party. Thanks!
Now with the weather officially feeling like winter, there are a couple of things you need to know to
help your child be prepared for outdoor recess. We will go outside for recess if it feels like it is 20 degrees or warmer. If there is snow on the ground, your child will need to wear snowpants and boots in order to play on the playground. Otherwise, your child will play on the blacktop only. Please make sure all winter clothes (boots, snowpants, gloves, etc) are clearly marked with your child’s name.

Here is what you need to know for this week:
Words of the week: in my
Poetry: Gingerbread
Reading: We will be reading different versions of the Gingerbread Man so we can practice comparing, contrasting and retelling the stories. These are important strategies for good readers to master.
Writing: We will be writing opinions about the Gingerbread man and boy.
Math: We are completing Unit 3 this week. All of our math workshop stations will involve the gingerbread man and counting strategies.
Science: We will be finishing our unit on pushes and pulls.
Social Studies: The students will orally be given a 10 question district assessment on needs/wants and goods/services. But no worries, the students will do great on this assessment since we have covered all the concepts in class and during our field trip.
Tuesday: Your child will need to return their library book, book bag, and poetry journal today. We will go to music with Mrs. Baloga. We will not be checking out books due to the Santa Shop in the Media Center.
Thursday: We will go to music with Mrs.Baloga.
Friday: Popcorn Friday! We will go to the computer lab with Mrs. Ackerman and gym with Mr. Murua.
Santa Shop: Information and envelopes were placed in your child’s red folder on Friday. Our class will be shopping either Wednesday or Thursday. I will post tomorrow when I know for sure!
Enjoy the first official snow day of kindergarten!
Ms. Wright
