Dear Families,
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day with your family! Here is what you need to know for this week in our kindergarten class.
- Monday: Nightly Literacy Homework is due today! Please make sure that your child puts in their own homework in their red folder. Wear gym shoes for gym! Today we will also go to Art with Mrs. Doman. If you would like to purchase books from the book fair, please make sure their wish list (was sent home on Friday) along with money in a envelope marked “Book Fair.”
- Tuesday: Last day to bring in Book Fair money. We will go to Music with Mrs. Baloga today.
- Wednesday: We do not have any special classes today but we will start our first science unit “What is a Scientist?
- Thursday: We will go to Music with Mrs. Baloga today.
- Friday: We will go to the Computer Lab with Mrs. Ackerman and gym with Mr. Murua.
Great News! We just confirmed our first field trip to the Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill! This trip is planned for Wednesday, October 12, 2016 for a full day. We will be taking 10 chaperones on this trip. In order to be a chaperone, you need to have your background check approved in the office. In order to have this completed, please stop in the office with your driver’s license and fill out the necessary paperwork. The approval process takes 2 weeks to complete, so don’t delay! Field trip information sheet and permission slips will be sent home tomorrow. Look for it in your child’s red folder!
Gold Coins: If your child brings home a golden coin that means they were found following the “Lindbergh Way!” Encourage your child to collect the coins in a special place at home since they do not need to be returned. Every time your child receives a golden coin, their name is read over the PA system the next morning for the whole school to hear!
Volunteer Opportunities: ( if you are interested, please leave a comment below or email me at wrightt1@dearbornschools.org- thank you in advance!)
What? When? Why?
- Book Fair helpers Monday/Tuesday at 8:45 a.m. We need a parent to walk a small group of kindergartners to the media center to purchase books from the Book Fair so we don’t lose anyone.
- Put Labels on Tabs Anytime before Sept. 26th We need someone to help us put labels on our Leader in Me binders. This easy project would been done at home.
- Homeroom Parent Various times throughout the year. We need 2-3 Homeroom Parents that would help us plan special events at school, like holiday parties. These Homeroom Parents are crucial for designing our classroom basket for Lindbergh’s Holiday Boutique in November.
- School Supply Organizer Anytime this week We need someone to help us organize all the school supplies that were sent in since the beginning of the school year.
Brief Description on what we are working on:
Math: Students will be practicing counting, recognizing, identifying and writing numbers 0-5.

Social Studies: Students will be learning about “How do I Get Along with Others?”
Words of the Week: the to (Please have students practicing reading them. If your child know how to read them, have them practicing writing them.) GOOD LUCK!
