Week of September 28, 2015

Dear Families,

I hope you had a wonderful break from school.  We have a fun-filled, jammed pack week ahead.  Here is what you need to know:

  • Monday:  Please make sure your child wears gym shoes today.  We will also go to art today.  Field Trip permission slips will be sent home today.  Your child’s letter book will be sent home today in their red Take Home Folder.  This week we will be studying the Letter S.  Please help your child to find 5 pictures that start with the letter S.  You may use magazines, computer clipart, photographs, etc.  The letter book will be due this Friday.  The complete directions are located on the S page in the letter book.  Have fun and good luck!
  • Tuesday:  Return library books today.  We will go to music today with Mrs. Baloga today.
  • Wednesday:  Nightly Reading homework will be sent home today.  Please make sure that at least 10 minutes of reading occur each day at your house.  It might be you reading to your child or your child reading to you.  Ask your child about the 3 ways to read a book!  Each night reading occurs, your child will color a pumpkin on the Nightly Reading sheet.  On Monday, November 2, the sheet will need to be signed by you and returned to school.
  • Thursday:  Picture Day!  Wear your smile!  I haven’t seen any order forms yet, but be sure to look for them in your child’s red folder.
  • Friday:  Please make sure your child wears gym shoes today.  We will go to the computer lab today.  Letter books need to be returned today.  Bingo for Books will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • This week our class will be taking the NWEA tests in the computer lab.  I haven’t seen the updated schedule yet so I am not sure exactly what day but it will be sometime this week.

Important Dates:

  • Tuesday, October 6th we will need several volunteers to help us with Mad Science at 2:15 p.m.  If you are interested in helping us with the 5 Senses stations, please leave a comment below.  It will take about an hour.  I already have one volunteer, thanks mom! 🙂
  • Wednesday, October 14th we will be going on our first field trip to the Plymouth Apple Orchard and Cider Mill.  If you are interested in being a chaperone for this trip, please indicate so on the bottom of the field trip permission slip.

One Last Thing:

Our kindergarten class needs several Homeroom Parents to help plan holiday parties and organize our classroom basket for Lindbergh’s Holiday Boutique.  If you are interested, please leave a comment below.  Even if you verbally expressed your interest in being a Homeroom Parent already, please leave a comment below.

Until next time,

Ms. Wright
