Hip Hip Hooray, It ‘s the 100th Day!
It was a big day in kindergarten! It went so fast that we barely had time to get ready for dismissal.
Today we had a 100 piece snack!
With the help of Logan’s mom, Andrew’s mom, and Leo’s mom we made the coolest crowns around! Check out our class picture! I think we used 100 staples in each crown! 🙂
Also, during science we asked the question “how much is a 100 drops of water?” Ask your child for the results!
Here is what you need to know for this week:
- Letter of the Week: Q q- good luck!
- Spelling Pattern: ad such as had, fad, sad, dad ( if you have a good example of a fad, please email me- when the students asked me what a fad was, every explanation I had- they just didn’t get! 🙂
- Spelling: since the spelling tests are going so well, I will be adding some sight words that are individual to your child. We will start this tomorrow and write the words in their spelling notebook. They will be tested on Friday. I am not sure how this is going to work, but we will give it a try. 🙂
- Check out the March is Reading Month calendar for a variety of reading activities. Today we had a Mystery Reader. The students listened to the Mystery Reader on the speaker system and had to guess who was reading the story. This week it was Ms. Donna from the cafeteria!
- Parent Readers- we love to listen to stories in our classroom, especially from family members! During the month of March, contact me if you are interested in reading to our class. You would bring your own favorite books from home, usually a couple that would last a total of 10-15 minutes. In the past, readers came at arrival time (8:45 a.m.) and right before dismissal time (3:15 p.m.) . Leave a comment below, email me or put a note in your child’s folder to read our our class.
- Science Fair Boot Camp- it sounds like most of our scientists have started their experiments and are very excited to share what is happening to the alligators! In class, we have completed the seven days of observing and measuring. Today we started the Science Display Board. I will put a picture on the blog tomorrow so you can see.
Here are some tips that the Upper El students received that I thought might be helpful:
- Don’t glue until you have arranged everything. * I learned this lesson today!!!
- Never write directly on the board.
- Glitter glue should not be used.
- Use colored border behind information. ( I have construction paper if you need it)
- Cut straight!!! Glue on straight!!! ( As straight as a kindergartner can!)
Most of all, this should be fun and not stressful for anyone! If you have questions, let me know. No worries allowed!
Hopefully this is all for now!
Ms. Wright
