Today we will review the scores from yesterdays test and then move on to cover some new material.

Content Objective: I can demonstrate my comprehension of the methods of military technology utilized during the first World War (WWI).

Language Objective: I can listen to a series of explanations and demonstrations detailing the methods of military technology used in the first World War.

Bell Work: When you think about WWI what types of weapons or military strategies come to mind? Talk to you table partners about your thoughts. Be ready to share out.

Thursday 5/7/15

Today we will be taking our first test on WWI. We will focus our assessment to the early phases of the conflict.

Content Objective: I can demonstrate my understanding of WWI vocabulary terms and origins on a test.

Language Objective: I can write my responses to a series of vocabulary test questions concerning the origins of WWI.

*Homework: Use the study guide we created in class to study the vocabulary words for WWI and take a look at your notes on propaganda because we will have two propaganda based questions.

 

 

Wednesday 5-6-15

Great job on the Field Trip yesterday!

Today we will continue with what we started but did not finish Tuesday. We finished the first three (3) of our vocabulary entries today. We have three (3) vocabulary words remaining to complete.

Content Objective 7.2.1: I can demonstrate my understanding of the American apprehensionĀ to joining WWI by summarizing two reading passages on American opposition to war.

Language Objective: I can read two passages and write a summary of the information in the passages.

Bell Work: Discuss why you think the United States was the last country to enter WWI. Be ready to share your thoughts!

Tuesday: We have our field trip to Cranbrook! Get a good nights rest.

End of the Marking Period Friday

The end of the marking period is near (Friday). I printed out a progress report for every student and gave them to your intervention teachers. I also gave them samples of our work. You will have time in class to catch up on anything you missed or did not do so well on. Use this time wisely! See/Email me with any questions. Bring in any missing work to our class Friday to get it onto this grading period.

Today is the day 2 people go home with a chocolate bunny! Not to mention a few eggs here and there.

Today we will finish our propaganda posters and vote on who created the best one in each class. The winners will take home the bunnies!

We will have time in class to make of final adjustments to our posters before we judge the work of our peers.

Bell Work: Pick up a set of propaganda cut-outs from me. Sit down and begin placing them on the concept map where you think they belong. DO NOT GLUE IN YET. Be ready to discuss and check as a class.

Yesterday you should have completed your map of European Alliances for your notes. Use your notes to create a rough and final draft of your explanation of how the assassination of Franz Ferdinand drew Europe into WWI by straining the alliances between the Central Powers and the Allied Powers. The rough drafts will need to be turned in with your map! Do not forget.

 

Content Objective: I can demonstrate my evaluation of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand as the pretext for WWI by justifying the importance of the event.

Language Objective: I can write to justify why the assassination of Austrian heir Franz Ferdinand by Serbian Gavrilo Princip caused WWI.
