The study of economics is the study of choices. This semester-long course is designed to make you informed consumers, competent decision-makers, and effective participants in the global economy. In this course you will be required to demonstrate an understanding of major ideas, themes, and policies in economics from a variety of perspectives. The Economics course was created to enable you to familiarize yourselves with current issues in today’s global economy as well develop an understanding of major ideas, themes and policies related to economics. Through this experience you will understand how both global and domestic policies affect the economy and your life.

Timeline of the Japanese campaign in the Pacific is due today. I will be checking for it first thing so make sure you have yours with you and out on your desk.

Content Objective: I can explain how the significance of the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii by detailing how this event brought the United States into WWII.

Language Objective: I can seek out details about the bombing of Pearl Harbor on the internet and then explain the significance of the event in bringing the United States into WWII.

We will check the answers for your classwork/homework first thing today. I will be checking off your documents for completion, if they are incomplete you WILL NOT receive full credit!

I can describe the key events of the Japanese Imperial campaigns in the South Pacific by writing about the details of events in a timeline.

I can read about the Japanese campaigns in the Pacific Ocean (Pacific Theater) and explain the main events in chronological order.

Bell work: Get out your vocabulary graphic organizer from yesterday and be ready to check over the answers as a class. Share your responses with your neighbors if you have extra time before we start.

Today we will take our Pretest for WWII vocabulary to see what words or concepts we know and what we need to spend more time on.

I can use my knowledge of WWII vocabulary to complete a pretest covering the vocabulary of the unit ahead.

We only have 9 days of school left! Make sure you do not lose focus.

All students have been given a study guide (given on 5/26/15) and all students have been made aware of the Quizlet page concerning the concepts and vocabulary for the final assessment (focused on WWII).

This Thursday we are taking our trip to the Detroit Zoo. I attached a copy of the map of the zoo so you can begin to plan what sites you want to see. There are a great deal of attractions so you will have a great deal to chose from.

Make sure you come to school prepared for the trip. Bring comfortable shoes and clothing to wear. Bring snacks if you think you will be hungry. Sunscreen may be helpful as well!
