Thursday 3/19- First Day of Spring!

Here is the link to the rubric for the poem! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vrv9fvlDEcSY4eRCH5RMEggMhDzN0j3YQLGdLNgH6d0/copy

Hey All! Make sure you notice that two things are due tomorrow. The 4 IXL that were assigned when we were still attending school in person, and the Dust Bowl Poem. If you can share your portion of the poem with me, that would be great. You can do that through Google Docs, but just sharing it with me, or you can copy and paste the poem into the text box in iLearn for the assignment (Dust Bowl Topic Poem). Hopefully that works. Depending on the amount of poems I get, I will decide whether to have that be a grade on this card marking or just wait until after this…break??? (I don’t even know what to call it!!)

Also, Happy Birthday to Abrar Saleh today! We have a lot of birthdays this month and I hope that you find ways to celebrate, even if it is just at home with your family! Enjoy the day, Abrar! 🙂

Monday 3/16

Not sure if that video worked or not, but thought I’d give it a try!

Keep checking the blog, your district email and iLearn for assignments and updates!

Revision to update

Unfortunately, after I had already sent out remind messages and updated the blog, the district reached out to inform us that no parents or students, just staff, are allowed in the building starting Monday. I’m sorry for any confusion.

Again, please be patient and bear with us as we figure out all of the logistics! Thanks! 🙂 Enjoy the beautiful day!

Sunday Update-Please read.

Hello Everyone!

I know that this is a really unsettling and frustrating time for all of us. We have never gone through something like this before, so we will all be doing a lot of learning and growing over the next few weeks.

A few things:

  1. Please sign up for my Remind!! To receive Remind  text message notifications, text @wootonj to 81010
  2. I will be releasing some online learning tomorrow (on iLearn) for the week. Please keep checking the blog and ilearn for updates and things you can do while we are off.
  3. Please do not hesitate to email me. Email is the easiest way to reach me as it is hard to respond to comments on the blog.

Thursday 3/12

See yesterday’s blog for the information on the poetry project.

Also, as a reminder, idioms are sayings that aren’t meant to be taken literally (ex: Break a leg! It was a piece of cake! I have butterflies in my stomach). Puns are a play on words (What do you call an alligator in a vest? An investigator!). Verbal Irony is saying something and meaning the opposite.
