Read up book(s) of your choice on Myon.com today! At Snow School – remember that there is a March is Reading Month reading contest going on! Have you met your 20 minutes a day goal?
Also, go to Google Classroom and look up what books you have checked out in the school library catalog.
Log in to the Destiny Library Catalog to see what items you have checked out. Use your 200 number as BOTH your name and password in Destiny.
You will try to write down what books you have and even the due date, before clicking “Turn it In”.

Week of March 7
What are 3 kinds of books you like to read? You will list 3 kinds and look up all 3 in the library card catalog (called Destiny).
You will tell how many books we have for all 3 of your subjects.
Ex: cats, dogs, fish – list how many books the library has of all 3 of these subjects of books.

Dr. Seuss’ birthday is March 2.
Choose 1 of the following 4 links to a Dr. Seuss book to read:

for March is Reading Month too?

Let’s Visit Seussville – the Dr. Seuss website and click on “Books” to see a list of his books
Go to Google Classroom and answer the question for this week.
After answering and submitting the question(s) in Google Classroom, you may explore
Seussville or websites on my blog. OR
You can also go back and finish last week’s assignment using
Myon and Google Classroom when you’re done with the above.
Week of February 22
We will attempt to use Google Classroom to answer some questions about famous African-Americans for African-American History Month (February)
Go to classroom.google.com
Enter the code I give you to join the class.
Follow the directions and then answer the questions.
You will be going to Myon.com, searching for “African” or “Biographies” then choosing 1 person to read about that is an African-American
You will choose 3 facts to write down about your person.
Try to do it in Google Classroom.
If it doesn’t work, we’ll use paper and pencil.
Week of February 8
This week we will work on our keyboarding skills.
Go to www.typing.com and be sure to LOG IN (at the top right corner).
Login is your username (your 200 number)
Password is either 123 or 1234 (if you made account this year)
**If you’ve never logged into it before you will need to
CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT (at the right side of the log in screen)
Use the above information to create your new account and don’t bother with the email section (don’t fill out the email section).
Remember to keep your fingers on the home row keys!

Once you’re logged in, go to Lessons and try to work from the beginning lessons to the end lessons.
There is a yellow arrow that is highlighted to show you where to click to start.
At the bottom of each completed screen, you will see “continue” and another yellow highlight.
You can track your progress at the bottom of the screen. Once you finish all the lessons shown on the line, you will earn a BADGE. Make sure to show me so you can get a blue ticket for each badge earned.
AFTER 20 minutes of typing, you may do the typing games offered in typing web. I will announce when that time comes.

President’s Research Project
Go to Myon.com and search for the word “president” and choose 1 book to read about a president
Write down the title of the book and 3 facts
Next, go to KidRex.org and search for the President of your choice
example: Abraham Lincoln facts for kids
example: George Washington facts for kids
example: Obama facts for kids
Write down the President’s name and 3 facts

Week of January 18
Go to Myon
Click Browse, Genres, Fairy Tales
Choose 2 Fairy Tales to compare
(for example 2 versions of Snow White)
Write down 1 thing that is the same and 1 thing
that is different in the 2 versions of the story

For Martin Luther King Jr. Day we will read about him on Myon.com
Myon.com Login with your student #, and your birthdate as your password MMDDYYYY
You will read one book about Martin Luther King, Jr. and one other book
about a famous person. What are books about famous people called?
a. non-fiction
b. graphic novels
c. biographies
Search for a, b, or c (correct answer above) in Myon’s search box
Read one other book about a famous person.
Finish up by practicing your typing skills on Typing Web.
