M-Step, NWEA and Classroom Reminders

Hello parents,

A few reminders:

– The M-STEP window has opened April 29th. Please make sure students are getting a good sleep and breakfast in the morning. We will mostly test in the mornings but may have to continue in the afternoon if needed. It is important to talk to your child to take this test seriously since it is a state test. You will get your child’s results in the mail to show if your child is proficient or not.

-NWEA testing will be May 13th

-Please make sure your child is doing their nightly reading and spelling

-There is no math homework from Monday until Wednesday. Your child will have math homework Thursday and Friday.

– Students can practice on MSTEP using the dearbornschools.org website, click on student portal under home, click on MSTEP, click on mstep online tools training, click on sample item sets, grade 3 then they have the option of ELA or Math. I have showed them how to get this page at school.

-In addition to reading, spelling, and math homework. It is crucial to work on multiplication facts especially using the strategy of skip-counting. Our goal is to have ALL students learn the facts for mastery.

Science Plant test will be Friday, May 3rd.

Social Studies Economy test will be Thursday, May 9th.

If you have any questions, please let me know 🙂

Thank you,

Mrs. Wetter

Baby Update

Dear families,

So many have been wondering and asking-Baby Wetter is officially scheduled to arrive May 29th. It is my goal to make it through these next few weeks with students.  So far all is well and baby is growing and happy.  If anything changes, I will post to let you know as soon as possible.  Thank you everyone for the positive thoughts!

Thursday, April 18th-Clean Up Parade and Home Project

Dear Parents,

River Oaks Clean Up Parade will be Thursday, April 18th at 2:00 p.m to celebrate Earth Day!! Weather permitting, students and staff will be parading around our school property perimeter (not into the neighborhood).

To prepare for the parade, please have students dress in BLUE or GREEN. Also, third grades theme is recycling. Students will work on an at-home project. They will create a hat made of recyclable items. Students will wear their hats during the parade.                                   Teachers showed students a few examples.

BE CREATIVE and HAVE FUN! The hats will be due Thursday 🙂

Thank you,

Third Grade Team
