The most important thing that we ask from our families, faculty and staff is to strictly adhere to our policy on illness:

  •  Fever-free (without the use of fever-reducing medications) for at least 24 hours
  • 24 hours from last episode of vomiting and/or diarrhea
  • Free of persistent coughing that interferes with daily activities
  • To prevent the spread and recurrence of communicable diseases, students who are ill or absent from school for any period of time should report to the office first before directly going back to the classroom.

The custodial crew has taken extra efforts to:

  • nightly wipe down all surfaces such as door knobs, light switches, and handles with a strong antibacterial solution
  • soap dispensers are filled at all times and napkins refilled

Please continuously encourage students to:

  • Wash their hands  with soap for 20 seconds prior to eating their lunch and snack.
  • Cover their nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing with tissue or bend of their elbow
  • Avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth
  • Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces

While we want to be thoroughly prepared, we also want to maintain perspective and continue to do the important work of educating our young people and preparing them to achieve their goals. Please try to refrain from engaging in speculation or rumors, but to directly address questions and or concerns to administrations.

Thank you for your continued commitment,

Lowrey Staff

March is Reading Month

March is reading month is well on its way. Our grade has a kindness challenge. I have challenged the class to do random acts of kindness. They should be doing kind things at home and at school without being asked. lf your child does an act of kindness, please praise them for it. We will be posting acts of kindness in the hallway.

Friday, March 13, 2020, is crazy sock day and half a day.

Comprehension Questions

This will be coming home in your child’s folder today. Please use these question prompts to help guide you at home when discussing books with your student! Reaching our grade level reading goal does not just mean your child can read the words in the book, but they should also be able to comprehend what they are reading! You may also use these questions as a writing prompt! Remember- you should be working WITH your child while reading at home. These tasks may be too difficult to complete independently, but with your support they can be so much more successful!

100th Day of School
This Thursday is our 100th day of school.  Please take an empty, dry plastic bottle (like a water, pop, or Gatorade bottle) and put 100 objects inside.  For example, you could put in 100 M&M’s, Skittles, pom poms, marshmallows, noodles, pennies, small Legos, gummy bears or peanuts.  These are just a few examples, you may use anything you have 100 of and that will fit in the bottle.  Please send in your bottle on Thursday, Feb. 6th!  I am so excited to see how creative everyone can be!  Thank you!!!
