Tuesday Interview your parents and find out their favorite thing to do when they were little. Draw and label a picture showing this. 

Wednesday Ask mom or dad to show you any artifacts (an old picture, an old watch or toy.) 

Thursday Spend time with your family talking about the past and how things are the same and different.

Friday Call or text your grandparents or other relatives, and discuss what they did in the past as well.

There have been some issues with Google meets. FYI: Google meet is temporarily suspended for students and teachers, pausing online lessons. Please use the blog for new materials and continue logging onto Freckle and for math and reading every day! Send me pics of your work done at home! You may email me or send through remind! I will be in contact via remind and emails.

I hope you all enjoyed the weekend. I enjoyed the sunshine and I am hoping spring is truly here and the weather will begin warming up for good.

Please remember that for credit on the daily assignments, I do need to receive a daily picture of the spelling, writing and math work done for each day of the week. Your child should be doing the spelling practice, watching the story online and answering the questions in complete sentences, watching the math video and doing the work as the video goes through and then completing the final challenge problem. This should all be send in daily so I can mark their assignments as completed. They should also be working on Freckle ELA and Math for 15-30 minutes a day in reading/mathematics and completing the assignments, watch the letter videos and the additional math videos for practice.

Letter Ww- review the letter Ww; review the sound it makes; practice making the letter Ww the correct way.

-ed family- Please focus on the -ed word family and the different words you can make when changing the beginning letter or letter blend.

Monday

Story – How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?  Vocabulary words: pout, sulk, and mope.  Writing – make sure you use complete sentences – answer the following questions in your notebook. Pick one of the vocabulary words and describe how the dinosaur looked in the picture on the page where that word was. Tell me how his face looked, what he was doing and what else was happening in the illustration. Then tell me if you have ever acted that way when it was bedtime.  Spelling/sight words: Write all 10 spelling words in 3 different colored pencils, markers or crayons, like a rainbow write. Also, write the sight word who today. Make up a sentence with the word came in it and write it down and draw a picture to go with it.

Math – Chen had 9 pencils. Some of his pencils were red and some were blue. Draw Chen’s pencils.
Make a number bond about your pencils. Now, turn and talk to your partner about your pictures and your number bond. Do your pictures look the same? Are your number bonds the same? Are they both correct?

Tuesday

Story – The Pout-Pout Fish in the Big-Big Dark; Vocabulary words –dimmer, swoooped, & grimmer. Writing – make sure you use complete sentences – answer the following questions in your notebook. What was Mr. Fish looking for? What does it mean when it says his heart flit-fluttered? Have you ever felt like that?  Spelling/sight words: Write a sentence for 5 of your spelling words. Remember to start with a capital letter, finger space between words and end with a punctuation mark. 

Math – 

You are going to play a game with your partner. Partner A, pretend your linking cubes are ants and your paper is a picnic blanket. Count your ants and put them all on the picnic blanket.
Now, pretend some of the ants crawled off the blanket. Slide some of your ants off the blanket to show the ones that crawled away.
Partner B, your job is to make a number bond showing the nine ants that were on the blanket, the ones that stayed, and the ones that crawled away. Partner A, check the number bond to see if you agree. Now, it is Partner B’s turn to show some ants leaving the blanket!

Wednesday

Story- Nighttime Ninja; Vocabulary words – clambered & thundered; Writing – make sure you use complete sentences – answer the following questions in your notebook. What was the nighttime ninja doing in the story? Did he complete his mission? What did the word “thundered” mean in the story? Spelling/sight words: Write the other 5 spelling words in a complete sentence. Make sure to start with a capital letter, use finger spaces between words and end with a punctuation mark. 

Math – 

Tony had 8 checkers. His friend took 3 away. How many checkers did Tony have left?
Draw a picture of the story. (Draw.) Make a number bond and a number sentence about the story.
Show your work to your friend. Did you both do it the same way?

Thursday

Story – Never ask a Dinosaur to Dinner. Vocabulary Words â€“ atrocious, ferocious & nocturnal.  Writing – make sure you use complete sentences – answer the following questions in your notebook. What is another word for ferocious? What other animals do you think are ferocious? What does nocturnal mean? Do you know any other animals that are nocturnal? What do you sleep with to have a lovely sleep at night? Spelling/sight words: Do a practice spelling test with someone today. Have them say the words for you and you write them down. Then practice any words you spell incorrectly by writing it 3 times the correct way. Practice writing the word new. Write a sentence using the word new.

Math – Steve had 9 pennies. He wanted to put some pennies into each of his two pockets. Use your pennies to show one way he could have divided them. Make a number bond about your idea. Show your number bond to your partner. Did she do it the same way? How many different ways can you divide the pennies?

Friday

Story â€“ Do Not Bring Your Dragon to the Library  Writing – make sure you use complete sentences – answer the following questions in your notebook. What are 2 reasons you shouldn’t bring a dragon to the library? Do you like going to the library? What is your favorite book and why do you like that book?  Spelling/sight words: Practice writing the sight word must. Write a sentence about 2 things you must do everyday when you’re at school! Draw a picture to go with it.

Math – 

Martin had 10 building blocks. Pretend your linking cubes are his blocks. Count to make sure there are 10!
He shared 4 blocks with his sister. Move 4 blocks to show the ones he shared. How many blocks did he still have? Make a number bond about the story. Now, make a number sentence. Show your work to your partner. Did she do it the same way?
Put your blocks back together. Act out the story again, sharing a different number of blocks this time. How does your number sentence change?

Brain Breaks / Movement Videos

Please make sure you are keeping all your work together in a notebook or all your papers together in a folder. I am hoping we will be able to have a collection day soon so I can see all the wonderful work that is being completed. Thank you for all of your hard work at home. This Tuesday April 28th, there will be chromebook distribution for Lowrey students onlyfrom 12pm to 2pm at Lowrey School.  Please come to the main doors.Even if you received a chromebook already and you have more than one child that attends Lowrey, then you can check out another one.  Large families will be given more than 2 chromebooks.  If your family already received three or more chromebooks, please do not come and ask for more, we need to make sure we have enough for all Lowrey students.
Also, we will not cater to Fordson siblings.  Fordson will have their own chrombook distribution tomorrow.
