Did you know practicing spelling words can increase vocabulary?  Spelling words should be practiced every night for about 5 minutes.  Here are a few activities that are fun to do and are very low cost:

1. Practice writing the words using a stencil
2. Practice writing the words in crayon, colored pencil or marker
3. Practice writing the words by stamping the letters with stamps.
4. Use a scrabble board to make the words
5. Make a game using the words
6. Have a beanbag and toss the bag with each correct spelling.

The more we read the better our vocabulary becomes.  We need to read every night at home.  The children have leveled books in their bags from their teachers.
