Students have taken two quizzes for Macbeth. We are in the middle Act of the play and should finish it next week. There will be one more quiz and then two summative assignments: CCR and a paper.

 

This text is on line in a variety of formats. There are translated version and version that have the original text and a more modern interpretation right next to it to help readers who are having trouble.

LA 8

Reading Act 1 of Macbeth at beginning of the week. Expect a quiz on Wednesday or Thursday (depends on the amount of material discussed).

If your son or daughter needs help with this, there are multiple modern translations online that can help clarify the material.

 

No Fear Shakespeare: Macbeth is a good book that will help them understand this material. Has has original and modern translations sise by side.

AP Lit

Students responded on Thursday to an essay prompt for the story “The Day of the Last Rock Fight”

The novel The Invisible Man is due to be read on February 29.

Currently working out of the Perrine’s book, reading short stories and writing and discussing the “writer’s craft” or techniques the writer uses to create a story and lead the reader to a thematic understanding of said story.

AP Literature

Class will be given The Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison to be read by February 29

When we return we will be reading the Canterbury Tales and be being able to compare and contrast multiple themes found within a text. We will also focus on the use of satire and irony to create humor and make social commentaries.
