LA 8 1984 Questions
1984 opening Questions beginning of novel
Goal: to provide opportunities for students to identify the artist’s craft.
AP Lit
Tuesday: final printing of Dali paper. Make sure you included listed literary techniques: metaphor, simile, allusion…
Wednesday: I will exchange papers and your peers will attempt to iddentify the literary devices and techniques you used in your papers.
LA 8 April 18 – 22
This week we have spent two days in the Computer Lab composing letters of request for Letters of Recommendation:
Three request letters to different individuals with an April 29 due date.
Copies of the letters will go into your portfolios.
Wednesday and Thursday we will examine high school student examples of resumes.
AP LIT Redaction
The Heart of Darkness Redaction: Should be page and half single space and be 10 font. Should be able to look at this page and use it as a study guide for an AP exam or college exam.
Redaction is a form of editing in which multiple source texts are combined (redacted) and altered slightly to make a single document.
Create a summary of the story where you hit the major points.
After the summary:
Briefly write about the narrator and Kurtz: offer significant insights
What theme(s) did you observe?
Did any literary devices jump out at you (list, but do not go into great detail)
Due Tuesday we get back from break.

Students will be looking at stories that make use of symbolism, allegory and fantasy: “The Rocking Horse Winner,” “Young Goodman Brown” and “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings”
They will soon be given the novella: The Heart of Darkness.
