Happy Halloween!

We had a great afternoon!  Thanks so much to all the parents who stopped by and hung out with us and especially to our homeroom parents who planned such a fun afternoon 🙂

Here are the group pictures we took today.  More pictures will follow later in the week.

P.S.  Tomorrow for lunch is halal hamburger (lunch menus will make it home tomorrow!)

Field Trip Pictures :)

Updates and Reminders…

  • Our Halloween parade and party will be on Tuesday, October 31st.  The parade will start around 1:30 and the party will follow directly after that.  Please send costumes in their backpacks or in a bag.  We will be changing into our costumes after we get back from lunch.

  • If you have not done so already, please send in the party money for our homeroom moms.  This is a one time donation – the money will be used to buy supplies, crafts, and/or snacks at each of our 4 main parties (Halloween, Holiday, Valentine’s Day, and Birthday Bash).

  • Math homework is coming home today (Wed.).

  • The study guide for social studies will come home tomorrow (Thurs.) and the test for ss will be next Thursday (Nov. 2nd)

  • **For some reason iblog won’t let me upload any pictures.  I will post pics from our field trip as soon as I can 🙂

In the News…

  • Tomorrow is a late start!  School starts at 9:35.

  • Picture Day is the same day as our field trip!!  We will take pictures before we leave on the bus.  If you are dressing your child up for their picture, please make sure they have extra clothes/shoes to change into that are appropriate for the apple orchard.  There will not be a ton of time to change before we have to leave, so if you plan for your child to change clothes, please make it as simple as possible.

  •  Our field trip on Thursday is an outdoor trip.  Please make      sure your child is ready for the weather with a coat or heavy sweatshirt.  Also, since we are eating at the orchard, all students should pack a bag lunch.

  • We had some brownie-making fun yesterday 🙂  Thanks so much to Lily’s Mom and Zora’s Mom for helping us out!

Brownies!

Yesterday our class earned the last brownie point they needed to completely fill our pan…that means we get to make brownies as a class!!!

I am planning to make brownies on Monday at 10:00.  Are there 2 or 3 parents that are willing to help us?  The kids actually do most of the work, but parents are helpful to check our measurements, look for shells (lol), and help with cleanup.  Let me know if you are able to come and help – I will take the first 3 to respond.

In the News…

  • Please check for picture envelopes and math tests – they both came home in today’s folder. (Math tests do not need to be returned to school)

  • Congrats to our Students of the Month for September, Jake Swider and Dede Zaghir.  Being chosen as Students of the Month means they have shown great behavior choices and responsibility in the classroom throughout the month of September 🙂

  • Congratulations to Adriana Dwyer, as well.  She was the first student in our classroom to flip their card up to purple!!  She showed extraordinary effort 🙂

  • Friday is a half day of school.  Students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m.
  • Next Wednesday, September 18th is a late start.  School begins at 9:35 a.m.
  • Halloween Party/Parade:  We were thinking that these would be the Friday before Halloween, BUT they will take place on Tuesday, October 31st.  Sorry for the mix-up.

In the News…

  • The PTA is having a bake sale after school tomorrow.  Each item will be 50 cents.  They would love some more donations of homemade or store bought baked goods.  If you are able to donate, please send it with your child or drop it off in the office in the morning.

  • Permission slips for our field trip to Erwin’s Orchard are coming home tomorrow (Friday).  Chaperones are more than welcome on our trip!  If you would like to join us, please remember the following:
    • chaperones will drive in their own car and meet us at the orchard
    • no siblings
    • you must make sure you are on the approved chaperone list (please check as soon as possible, just in case you need to fill out paperwork)

Rolling…

We are happily rolling along in room 24!  I cannot believe that October is almost here already.

  • Today everyone brought home a reading calendar that goes along with the Book It! Program.  Hopefully the note that is attached helps explain the program, but let me know if you have any questions.
  • We also brought home our “walk to school” signs that we made in art. Next Wednesday is National Walk to School Day, so we are encouraging everyone to walk at least part of the way to school.  Students can carry their signs as they walk in the morning on Wednesday.  There is a note with more information – if your child grabbed the things in their mailbox then they have it in their folder today, otherwise I will make sure they grab the note from their mailbox on Monday.

Here are a few pictures of us from the week (investigating matter in science, more Mona awards in art, and some of us with our 4th grade buddies) 🙂

News…

  • An enormous THANK YOU to our parents who came in yesterday to help decorate notebooks.  We couldn’t have done it without you 🙂
  • Book orders – I will be finishing the book order on Sunday, so there is still time…If you would like to order, please go to scholastic and enter our classroom code MK4VL to link to our class.
  • We played our first game of Homeworkopoly today!!  Everyone who earned 3/3 on their spelling homework last Monday AND turned in their math homework on time earned a chance to roll today 🙂
  • Art – Mrs. Thomas has honored a few students who have “mastered the Mona Lisa”.  These students showed excellence in having their eyes watching, hands resting, and ears listening during art class…
