Monthly Archives: March 2019

Wrapping up March!!

It’s been a whirlwind month and this past week was perhaps the busiest with all of the events and fun!

  • A big thank you to Noor’s mom and Jenna’s mom for being guest readers this week. We also got a chance to have a local author, Shayma Mustafa, read her story to us and talk about the writing process.  Plus, we had a visit from Jim Thorpe from the Dearborn School Board, Ross Groover from the administration building, and Zee the Cook!!!
  • Bingo For Books – We had a great time playing bingo and winning BIG!
  • Our concert was amazing and everyone looked so spiffy!!  Thanks so much for bringing them back in the evening!  They did an excellent job at both performances.
  • Congratulations to all of the students who met the reading goal every week for the month!
  • Finally, here is a copy of the Brainstormers information that was sent home today in case it gets misplaced or you need another copy.

Have a wonderful Spring Break! 🙂

Concert

Tomorrow evening is our Spring Concert.  Please drop your student off in our classroom at 6:45.  We are so excited!!  🙂 If you are unable to bring your child tomorrow night, please let me know with an email or a note in the planner.

News…

  • Running club is cancelled for Monday because we are having BINGO for Books.
  • BINGO for BOOKS is Monday, March 25th from 4-6:30.  Admission is $5 per person and includes food, a drink, and BINGO!
  • Permission slips came home today for a quick field trip our class is taking to the Dearborn Historical Museum on Tuesday, April 9th.  Please return them by next Thursday, March 28th because I have to give a final count to the museum and the payment must be made in advance.  Due to the limited space inside the museum, we will not be able to take more than 3 parent chaperones.  If there are more than 3 volunteers, chaperones will be chosen by drawing names.
  • Let’s play Prodigy!!  This is a math site that we have been using in class to help us practice our math skills.  It would be awesome if you could give your child time to play (practice) at home.  Some students had me write their login information in their planner – other students know it by heart.
  • Rollerskating night on 3/26/19 from 6-8 pm at Lincoln Park Skating Center.  Admission is free for the family.  Skate rental is free for Howard students.
  • THAAAAAANK YOUUUUUUUU  to our totally awesome guest readers this week!  We appreciate you 🙂

(We also did a pretty sweet Science Investigation this week.  It was hard to get pictures while we were working, but I was able to grab a few)

BINGO FOR BOOKS

Bingo for Books

  • When: Monday, March 25th at 4:00pm in the cafeteria
  • Cost: $5 per person includes pizza, refreshments, and bingo
  • Book Donations: We would appreciate if you could send new or gently used books to the office along with the number of people attending so we can plan accordingly.

Guest Readers…

We had 7 guest readers last week, including Judge Salame, our awesome parents, and even two football players from Dearborn High School.  SO FUN!!  Thanks so much to our parents who came in 🙂

Updates

  • Tomorrow is “fact in your pocket” day.  The question they should answer is:  Which 4 basketball teams were in the Final Four last year?
  • Zearn:  Today I sent home a note with some students who are behind in Zearn.  If you can let them log in and work on a few lessons to help them catch up, that would be great.  If not, no worries.  They do not have to get it all done tonight, I just wanted them to have another opportunity to work on it.
  • Bookmark Contest:  Entries for the contest are due Friday.  Here is the form if your child is interested.  boomark contest

Love it!!

We LOVE having our parents pop in and read to us!!  Thanks so much to all of our parent readers from this week.  If you haven’t scheduled a day and would like to, just send me a quick email 🙂
