1st choice – halal chicken patty

2nd choice – cheese pocket

• OOPS!  We forgot to put our new spelling words into our notebook.  We will glue them in and bring that home tomorrow.  Sorry 🙂

• Reminder:  Math HW is due tomorrow (and it’s a late start day)

• LOVE!!!  I sent home a book order today – everybody loves new books!!  You can fill out the form on the back and send it in with a check to Scholastic, OR you can go online and use our class code (MK4VL) to order.  Please order by Monday.

• Also, a HUGE thank you to Hadi’s Mom and Mila’s Mom for coming in today and helping us cover our writing notebooks 🙂

• I postponed decorating notebooks until tomorrow since there was a handful of students who forgot their pictures.  PLEASE try to send your child with at least one or two pictures for their notebook.  I have extra stickers to share, but it is more fun for them if they have pictures as well.

• Math HW came home tonight and is due on Wednesday.  I did include the “helper” page, but students can use whatever strategy works for them!  You can also see the helper page by clicking here.

• I also added a math page to our blog.  If you need the HW helper or want to read the parent tip sheets for the current module we are in, they will be posted on that page.

• Spelling notebooks:  the pages seem to be coming out of our red spelling notebooks suuuuupppperrr easily.  I am so sorry, I know this is frustrating.  A few parents have asked if they can buy a sturdier notebook – of course you can, I just ask that you try to make sure it’s red 🙂

• The PTA Picnic is tonight from 4:30-6:30

• Wednesday (9/19) is a late start.  School starts at 9:35.

We are rolling right along practicing routines and making great choices!  We stayed busy with our new math, NWEA testing, a teamwork challenge, and beginning to build stamina for read to self in Daily 5.  A huge thank you to our popsicle fairies for helping us to stay cool on those really hot days!!

Week 3 will bring more teamwork activities, our first spelling test, and the publishing of our first writing piece!

Monday:  students will take their first spelling test.  They should also return their red spelling notebook with 3 completed activities (pyramid words, 5x each, and across and down)

Thursday:  Open House 6-7:30 p.m.

Friday: 1/2 day of school, students will be dismissed at 11:45
