Monthly Archives: October 2016

  • A new math game came home today, but it does not have to come back Monday.  If you don’t get a chance to play this weekend, play one night next week and then send it back by Wednesday or Thursday after you have played. 🙂
  • Red spelling notebooks should be returned Monday with the completed activities.  We will also take our test on Monday.
  • Next Friday, October 14th will be a half day of school for students.  Dismissal is at 11:45.
  • We had great spirit week participation.  PJ day had every single one of us showing up in our comfy clothes!!  Thanks so much for making this week such fun.  Here is a picture of us from “dress to impress” day on Thursday.

Spirit Week…

Spirit week is off and running.  Today was college sweatshirt day and not only did we look great, but I found a fellow Olivet Comet in our class – awesome!!!

Tomorrow is pajama/comfy clothes day 🙂

October Reading Calendar

OOPS!!  All that updating I did in yesterday’s post, lol, and I totally forgot to mention the reading calendar that came home.  Sorry!  The October calendar that came home is part of our reading homework and the Pizza Hut Book-It program.  Students should color in the cat on the days that they read at least 20 minutes at home.  Calendars should be returned to school the first week of November.  All students who read at least 21 days will earn a free personal pizza certificate.

While we are on the subject of reading, you may be wondering when reading books/bags will start coming home.  I am still working on giving many of our kids a developmental reading assessment.  When that is all done, I will start matching books that are a good fit for your child.  Towards the end of this week or early next week, keep your eyes peeled for reading bags/folders with some quick homework – just to start getting us in the swing of things 🙂

Oh, AND I forgot to give a huge THANK YOU to the many parents who were able to come in and help us decorate notebooks.  All the kids were able to finish in record time.  You guys are awesome and very much appreciated!!!!
