Monthly Archives: March 2016

Have a super spring break!!!

We ended March is Reading Month with one last reader and an assembly 🙂  Thanks to Natalia’s mom for coming in today!

Enjoy your break!!

Report cards…

should have come home in today’s folder unless we have a conference scheduled for tonight!  I did have one student leave theirs on their desk, so there is one exception to that statement.  Just like always, please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions.

For tomorrow, please have students bring their library books and their Week 4 reading minutes.  We have a March is Reading Month assembly in the afternoon to recognize all the students who met their reading goals and to announce the students who won lunch with Mrs. Burch.

We had more SUPER guest readers today!!  A big THANK-YOU to Chayse’s mom and Ariadna’s dad for taking the time to pop in and read to us 🙂

March is certainly our lucky month!!  We also had a visit today from Ms. Meyer and Mr. Carter for a special reading/music presentation.  It was really cool to listen to the story, The Flute Player, read by Ms. Meyer and then hear it interpreted through music by Mr. Carter.

I took a video, but it keeps playing sideways…weird, but at least you can hear a little piece of what we heard 😉

Plus, don’t forget today was also our flashlight read-in!  We did our read-in at the end of the day with our 4th grade buddies 🙂

Last, but not least…Curriculum Night is coming up the week after break.  In the past we have focused on only reading/writing activities, however this year we are doing some math and science activities, as well!!  We hope you are able to join us 🙂

Catching up!

We had an amazing week last week so I apologize for just getting to post all of these pictures!  Thank you SO MUCH to all of our guest readers (moms, dads, and friends) – this is one of my favorite parts of reading month!!!  Let’s not forget about our amazing concert either…I think your kids were pretty awesome 🙂

Quick notes for this week: no spelling, library check-out will be Thursday

Gym Shoes!!

Tomorrow is picture day!  We also have gym tomorrow and NOT Wednesday because of our concert.  Please have your child bring their gym shoes in their backpack if they are dressing up for pictures.  Gym will be at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon.

Don’t forget, Wednesday is a late start AND our concert.  We perform at 2:00 for the school, and then again at 7:00 p.m. for our family and friends.  You may drop your student off in the classroom at 6:45 p.m.

Busy, busy!

This has been a very busy day!  We had 2 guest readers (A big thanks to Mrs. Bazzi and Mrs. Elsersy!), an assembly, our PBIS game day reward, and we took our social studies test on the laptops (which we thought was super cool 🙂 )!!  I have lots of pictures to share!  Plus, earlier in the week we had a visit from Officer Hanson.  He read us a story and answered lots of questions about being a police officer.  Just as exciting was the crazy squirrel we had hanging upside down directly outside our window.  Who knew squirrels could do that???  The kids were very sure that I needed to take a picture and post it on the blog, so it’s here somewhere, lol!

Really quick – looking at next week – we have picture day on Tuesday, late start on Wednesday, and don’t forget our concert on Wednesday night!!  It begins at 7:00 p.m. so students can be dropped off in the classroom at 6:45 p.m.  We will also have a science test and a math test on fractions (probably on Thursday).  Here are the study guides for those:  Science Study Guide     Math Unit 8 Study Guide

Last, but not least, if you haven’t signed up to come in and read, we would still love to put you on our schedule!  Just send me a note with a few ideas for a day/time and I will look at our schedule and then confirm.

Now check out your cute kiddos 🙂

Coming to you live…

from Avery’s dance class and I am having a hard time uploading all of the info I wanted you to have since I am blogging from my phone. I will keep this simple and just give you the reminders for tomorrow:

1. Game day tomorrow afternoon. Kids are welcome to bring a game to play with their friends. Please no video games.

2. Reading minutes are due for Week 2!! Please total the minutes and sign the form.

3. Spelling test tomorrow

4. Library books need to be returned

We have a science test and a math test next week, so I will post the study guides tomorrow. There is also a late start next week.

From the office…

From me…

  • Last day for pencil/eraser sale tomorrow (.25 cents each)
  • Ms. MacDonald sent home a study guide for social studies today.  We may need to take the test as early as Thursday (depending on when the computer lab is available), but we are hoping for Friday so they have 3 nights to study.
  • We started fractions today in math.  This is a very short unit!  We will probably take the test on the 18th.  They do have homework today.
  • Our PBIS reward for February is an afternoon of board games.  We will do this on Friday, March 11th.  Students are invited to bring in games from home to play with their friends.

In the News…

  • There is a pencil and eraser sale tomorrow and Wednesday.  All items are .25 cents.
  • If you have orders to turn in for the MI made fundraiser, tomorrow is the last day to do so.
  • We have our very first X-tra Math Addition Master!!!!  Great job Karl 🙂

Brookies :)

Before I forget…

  • Week 2 reading minutes start today and are due next Friday.
  • I have an invitation that I intended to send home today and yet here it sits…still on my desk…oops.  I wanted you to have the weekend to think about it and find times that work for you, so I am posting it here, but I will still send it home on Monday 🙂  Parent Invite

Now, the big question…  How many pictures can 1 teacher take while 3 groups of kids are making brownie batter and the other 3 groups of kids are making chocolate chip cookie dough????  The answer… A LOT!!  (This isn’t even all of them ;))
