This is it…

my last post as your child’s 2nd grade teacher 🙁  I can’t believe it!

In the middle of all the other things that came home today was their last report card!  It is folded in their red folder.  Stapled to that is a green 3rd grade supply list and a pink note from me about keeping in touch over the summer 🙂  I got the idea for exchanging letters over the summer from Avery’s kindergarten teacher!  She’s the best!  Avery had an awesome time sending her notes and postcards from all the places we visited!!  Trevor will tell you that she still gets letters from students who are now in college!!  I thought I would give it a shot and see if I get any mail 😉

There SHOULD have been a note about the summer reading program in their folder, but…oops!  It’s still sitting on our classroom reading table.  So, I am attaching it to this blog post – that way you can print it out.  There is an assembly and prizes for students who turn it in when we come back to school!!! summerreading

As a parting gift today, each student got a chapter book and a bookmark (created especially for them)…hopefully that will give them a jump on their summer reading!!

A few students brought home summer workbooks with a note from Mrs. Burch included.  Please take some time throughout the summer to have them work on it.

Is this my longest blog post ever????  LOL!

You and your students are always welcome to pop in and say “hi”.  Have a fabulous summer!!!

Please…

send backpacks again tomorrow! There are some things coming home (like report cards) that I don’t want everyone just carrying…

I can’t believe tomorrow is our last day!! You are truly amazing families and I feel so lucky to have been able to spend the year with you and your student!!! Thank you!

Reminder…

Today is field day. Hopefully we can squeeze some activities in between raindrops!

It is also our movie pbis reward. Students are welcome to bring a snack and drink to eat while they watch. Students with more than four yellows or any blues will not be participating.

High-five to Mother Nature…

for hooking us up with sun on our picnic day tomorrow!!!  The forecast looks like 78 degrees and partly sunny!  Please apply sunscreen to your child in the morning and pack them a bag lunch.  They can also bring a blanket to sit on.  If you are bringing items for the picnic, you are welcome to walk them down to classroom at drop off.

On another note, we still need to bring backpacks to school.  We will empty desks and bring the majority of our stuff home next Tuesday, but other random things may come home in the meantime.

To spell, or Not to spell???

  • We do NOT have spelling this week 🙂
  • Our 2nd grade picnic is on Thursday.  We will head over to the park about 11:45ish.  Please make sure your child brings a lunch.  I encourage you to also send a small blanket since there are not enough picnic tables for all three classes.
  • Field Day is Monday.  We are scheduled for 9:15-11:15.  Please make sure you apply sunscreen before your child comes to school and send them with a water bottle.
  • For our May PBiS reward, I believe 2nd grade is going to do a movie and snacks on Monday afternoon.  If this is the case, you may send in snacks/drink for your child to enjoy with the movie.  I will let you know as soon as it is confirmed.
  • 6 1/2 more days of school and your child will be a 3rd grader 🙂  I hear lots of stories about new houses and new schools – if you know for certain that your family will not be at Howard next year, please drop me a note or email.
