Monthly Archives: January 2015

Reading

  • For reading homework over the weekend, I asked the students to log in and read on RAZ-kids.  Any student who logs in 3 times and spends some time reading, earns a prize on Monday.
  • Spirit week starts on Monday.  It is mismatch day or sports day.

Don’t forget…

  • Tomorrow is a half day.  Students will be dismissed at 11:45.
  • No school Friday.
  • Please return your book order tomorrow or go online and order.  Our classroom code is MK4VL
  • I had one parent ask if pizza kit orders will be accepted tomorrow – the PTA has said yes.  So if you still want to turn an order in, you can slide it in tomorrow 🙂

Classroom News…

  • This Wednesday is a late start.  Class starts at 9:35 a.m.
  • No School on Monday, January 19th and Friday, January 23rd.
  • Thursday, January, 22nd is a half-day for students.  They will be dismissed at 11:45.
  • Students must have boots AND snow pants to play on the playground during outdoor recess.  Without both, they must stay on the blacktop.  We went outside today and it was super fun 🙂
  • Spelling words for this week are:  horse, fort, start, jar, park.  Many students have individual words again so please make sure they study all 10 of their words.

Welcome Back!

  • New spelling words today are:  screen, stripe, sprain, struck, spruce. For many kids, those 5 words are the only ones they have to study.  Some students will come home with 10 words today.  That is because I have started adding individual words for them along with the pattern words.  The individual words will be part of their test.
  • We are back to building stamina during Daily 5.  Today we practiced Read to Self.  Tomorrow we will build our stamina for Work on Writing.  If all goes well with those, we should have all of our Daily 5 choices back by Friday.
  • If your child completed a December Reading Calendar for BookIT, please return it by Wednesday.  The January calendar came home today.  Students need to read on at least 25 days to earn their certificate.
