In Language Arts today the students took their tests on The Prince and The Pauper.  I also collected interactive notebooks and graded them.  The reading log and all late work for 5th Marking Period were due today too.  I will try to have grades updated as soon as possible.  It will be done by Sunday evening.

In Language Arts today the students finished watching “The Prince and The Pauper.” We discussed the similarities and differences between the movie and the play.  We also played a jeopardy review game for our test tomorrow.

In Language Arts today the students read an article about The Prince and The Pauper movie produced in 2009.  The students then began watching the movie in class today.  While we are watching, we are completing a compare and contrast thinking map which we will use for an activity tomorrow. In case someone loses this sheet between now and then, I have attached it to this blog post.

In Language Arts today the students worked in small groups to identify the theme in The Prince and The Pauper.  They presented their findings to their classmates.  The students also took their last pop quiz of the school year.  They were asked to identify the point of view in the story,”The True Story of the Three Little Pigs” which we will be reading when we start our folktale unit next week.  Lastly, the students were given time to organize their interactive notebooks since I will be collecting them on Friday.

In Language Arts today the students identified the genre and point of view for The Prince and The Pauper.  We also looked at the characters within the play a bit more in depth.  Lastly, we identified examples of figurative language that can be added to our play.  We posted these examples to the figurative language board in our classroom.

In Language Arts today the students continued acting out The Prince and The Pauper.  We have two scenes left to complete the play and we will finish them on Monday.

There are two weeks left in this marking period.  All progress reports went home on Monday. Please ask your child if they received one or check on Parent Connect.

The four hours on Moby Max are due two weeks from today.  The students have had the entire marking period to complete this assignment.  I have notified the students who have completed the assignment in class.  All students are aware of who is finished and who needs to spend more time on this assignment.

In Language Arts today the students continued to act through scenes 2 through 4 of The Prince and The Pauper.  We discussed which events in the play make up the rising action and justified our reasoning.

In Language Arts today the students hovered for words they do not know in The Prince and The Pauper.  We worked on creating our new Word Wall.  I will have this posted on the blog post for tomorrow. We also began acting out the play during class. The students were given a characterization sheet and a sheet for the pyramid of action/figurative language to add to their Interactive Notebooks and use for note taking during this unit. These have been added to this blog post. Lastly, today was our library day.  Any student that did not make it to the library today and wanted to will need to find an alternate time to go to the library later this week.

Welcome back!

 

I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break and was able to take some time to relax!  In Language Arts today the students discussed how dramas came to be.  I have added the PowerPoint we used to take notes to this blog post. We also began to look at The Prince and The Pauper.  We made predictions based upon the introduction and picture walk from the script.  Tomorrow we will begin acting out the play.
