Today in Language Arts the students were given time to go to the library.  They also spent time turning in their Literary Analysis and reading logs.  The students were then introduced to our new unit.  Over the next two weeks, we will be thinking about how the writing of a script is different from that of a novel.  We will be doing this by acting out the play, The Prince and the Pauper, in class.  This week, we will be focusing on background information of the story and author.  Next week, we will be acting out the play.

Have a great evening!

Homework:

  1. Read for 60 minutes
  2. Reading Log Due Tuesday
  3. Character Analysis Final Draft Due Tuesday

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

In Language Arts today the students finished peer editing their rough drafts.  We focused on word choice and fluency while editing today.  The students were also given the rubrics that will be used for grading their character analysis. During class, the students also practiced applying what they have learned about number rules. Lastly, the students spent time finishing up their vocabulary books for lesson one.  The grades for this assignment will be posted by the end of the day today.

Tomorrow during our last block the students will be doing team building activities which means none of the teachers will be meeting with our last group of students.  For this reason, my last block of the day was given the option to take their vocabulary test on Tuesday as opposed to today.  If students wanted to take it today, they were welcome to do so and their grade has been recorded.  My first two blocks will still be taking the quiz tomorrow since they have had two weeks to prepare.  Initially, I was going to make final drafts due tomorrow as well.  Since I will not be able to get final drafts of the character analysis from my last class, I will give all students the break to work on final drafts.

Have a great evening!
