Welcome back!  I hope everyone enjoyed the break!  Mine was very relaxing. I cannot believe that we only have eleven weeks left of school! Time is passing quickly and a lot of learning still needs to be done.

Have a great evening!

I have some excellent news!  The Giver cost less money than I had anticipated.  If you sent money to school for your child to own a copy of the book, I will be returning two dollars to your child.

Conferences will be taking place from 3:30 to 6:30 in Ms. Cosenza’s room.  If you are interested in sitting down with your child’s core teachers, please feel free to join us.  Meetings will take place on a first come-first serve basis.

In Language Arts today the students spent time peer editing their compare and contrast constructed response.  The final draft of these responses will be due on Monday. The students should include one similarity, one difference, textual evidence to support each, and they should explain their thinking.  The final draft can be hand-written in pen or typed.  It needs to be double spaced.

The students were also introduced to our new unit, Folktales.  We reviewed the types of folktales as well as the elements of folktales.  Lastly, the students were introduced to our new grammar lesson.

Today is the end of the fourth marking period.  Grades will be updated and submitted by the end of the day.  All book money for The Giver was due at the end of today too.  If students did not purchase their own copy and want to, they will be responsible for doing so on their own.  We will start reading this book towards the end of April.
