Language Arts was a little bit different today than a typical class period due to the power outage on Thursday and Friday and my absence on Wednesday afternoon.

My second hour students spent time reading chapters 12-14 of Tuck Everlasting and focusing on comprehension questions from the novel.

Third and fourth hour students spent time writing the body paragraphs for their literary analysis and analyzing vocabulary from Tuck Everlasting.

All of the students spent time analyzing the text features for their article of the week and predicting what they article is going to be about. The students also spent time writing their reading log response and getting organized for the remainder of the marking period.

Due to the power outage, all late work was due today by 3:05. Additionally, the poetry quiz was moved from today to tomorrow.

At this point, all grades are completely updated. Please monitor them carefully since the marking ends on Friday. I will be putting the quiz grades on this marking period so grades will be changing a bit this week.

Have a great evening!

Homework:

Friday, February 17, 2017

In Language Arts today the students participated in listen to reading for chapters 6-8 of Tuck Everlasting.  While reading, they answered and discussed comprehension questions which will be used in our next literature circle after the break.

The students also spent time responding to their reading log using their good fit book.  From this point forward, I will no longer be grading responses based on attempt.  We are now in the back half of sixth grade and in order to better prepare students, they need to accurately know and be accountable for writing a constructed response. Therefore, the students can now lose 1-3 points if their responses are incomplete.  Students who are absent of Fridays will still be excused from writing the response.

Have a fun, relaxing, and safe break!
