At this point, I have graded all essays and late assignments I have been given. Anything that is noted as missing has not been submitted to me.  I am sending students home with progress reports today and there are quite a few students who received progress reports because their last essay is missing. Please ask your child if they received a progress report.

In Language Arts today the students spent time reviewing for their vocabulary test tomorrow.

The students were also introduced to the folktale project we will be working on in class for the next week. The students got to select groups of three as well as a folktale to create their project around.  I have attached the checklist of items that must be included with the project as well as the guided note sheet to help them through the story. This project will be worth 50 summative points and the students will be given 60 minutes in class each day for the next week to complete the project.  We will begin presenting our powerpoints and scrapbook pages next Thursday.  This assignment will heavily impact the students’ grades for fifth marking.

I am currently in the process of grading the literary analysis essays. I have completed 4th hour’s papers and am currently working on 3rd hour’s.  Please note, until I am done, grades will be inaccurate but I am working as quickly as possible to get them updated.  Only 4th hour’s grades are accurate as of today.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Welcome back from break!

The students were also introduced to our new unit on Folktales.  We will be focusing on folktales and elements of a folktale over the course of the next two weeks.  We started by reading the short folktale, “Ant and Grasshopper” and learning about some of the different types of folktales.

Since several students did not complete the MSTEP Practice over break. I have extended the due date for this assignment to Thursday, April 13th. Students who had completed the assignment prior to class today were given two points of extra credit for completing the assignment on time.

Please make sure all homework assignments get done over break.  There are tabs and directions on my blog for how to complete these assignments.  They have also been discussed in class numerous times and each student should know exactly what they need to do to be successful.

Have a wonderful break!
