Today in Language Arts the students took their quiz on Chs. 16-23 of The Giver.

When the students were done, they began working on their Instagram Activity rough draft. The assignment was explained in class yesterday and on the blog.

When all students finished the quiz, we organized our reading interactive notebook. Students who were ready were allowed to turn their notebooks in early.

I will do my best to update grades as soon as possible. I will have grades finished for the year by the end of the day on Tuesday.  Until then, I ask that families refrain from emailing me about student grades because I cannot guarantee they will be up to date until Tuesday night.  Thank you for your patience as we finish up this year!

Have a fantastic weekend! Last School Night Sunday!

In Language Arts today the students reviewed for their final quiz on The Giver. The students spent time discussing what Jonas was like as a character after he became the Receiver of Memory. The students also spent time talking about figurative language they found in chapters 16-23. I will take a picture of our figurative language board and post it to the blog next week.

The students were also introduced to their final project.  We will be creating an Instagram post (not on actual Instagram but on a paper based template) from the perspective of one of the characters in The Giver. The post will focus on one conflict the character faces and how they are feeling in this moment.  This project will not be due until the end of class on Monday and they will get all of class to work on it.  Students are required to bring in a printed, color picture that the character took of the conflict they are facing.  This is why they are given two days of school and the weekend to plan what their picture is going to be.

Please pay special attention to the homework tonight.  Tonight is our last big night of homework for the year as long as students have been on task during class.
