Today Language Arts was condensed due to pink shirt day.  During class the students organized their interactive notebooks and took their test on academic vocabulary and grammar.

The test retake policy for the vocabulary and grammar test will be discussed in class on Monday after grades have been updated, students have had the opportunity to reflect, and students who were absent have had the opportunity to take it.

I will do my best to have grades updated by the end of the weekend to reflect the work students have done this week as well as all of the late assignments that have been turned in.  Grades will definitely be done by Monday night.

Please remember that next week is the last week of the first marking period.

Have a fantastic weekend!

In Language Arts today the students spent time in the library selecting new good fit books.  We also spent time discussing grammar rules with various types of singular and plural nouns.  Lastly, the students spent time working on the computer predicting what their article of the week is going to be about.

The end of the First Marking Period will be next Friday, November 3rd.  Per our team syllabus, that means that not late work for the marking period will be accepted after Friday, October 27th at 3:05 pm.  I do not take points off of an assignment for turning it in late.  All students are welcome to turn in anything they have not completed between now and Friday.  This has been discussed in class as well.  Please keep in mind that if a student is turning an assignment in late, it is very likely that it will not be graded until the last week of the marking period.  I do not check for late assignments on a daily or even a weekly basis.

Have a great evening!

I also sent home the requirements for the second one-pager.  I have attached the requirements to this blog post too.  The only difference is that the CER response for the first book is focusing on author’s purpose and the second is focusing on point of view. Both responses will be due on November 3rd but they can be turned in any time before then too.
