We finished up a lot of materials and had a very busy day in Language Arts. We learned about prepositions and will continue to practice with prepositions as well as other parts of speech next week.
The students also spent time discussing “The Jacket” and focusing on how the figurative language helps them infer the meaning of the story line.
Lastly we spent time in class playing Escape the Room to help us review for out test on Monday. Students can logon to Google Classroom and continue to play the game at home to help study.
The students were also given the directions to their Figurative Language Project. They are being asked to focus on figurative langauge they find in movies, tv shows, commercials, or songs and analyzing how it is used. They also have the choice of creating a story or a play with their own figurative language. The directions for this project went home today and they will be given all of class on Tuesday as well as half of class on Wednesday to work on it. We will be presenting during class on Thursday.
All late work was due today and grades are completely updated based on what I have received from students.
To this blog post I have attached the answer documents to the extra credit figurative language practice. Each practice sheet will be worth two summative points of extra credit on the test. This is optional. If the checked papers are not brought to school on Monday, they will not be taken late and no extra credit will be given.
Have a great weekend and don’t forget Monday is our library day!
