Today our class learned about three more types of figurative language.  We focused on personification, imagery, and symbolism.  We looked at a powerpoint and identified the meaning of the symbols.  I have added the powerpoint to this blog post.  We also looked at some videos of personification and imagery examples I have added to this post too.

Buliding off of our QAR strategies from yesterday, the student learned about making connections to text.  We discussed that the three types of connections a reader can make to text are text to text, text to self, and text to world.  We discussed what each of these mean and came up with examples.

Have a great evening!

Homework: Silent read for twenty minutes and write a paragraph making a connection to the story, “Eleven” or “The School Play.”
