Today in Language Arts the students were introduced to figurative language.  We specifically focused on similes and metaphors.  We had a discussion about finding figurative language in our reading and the songs we listen to!  We practiced identifying similes and metaphors in these songs.  I have added the link to the songs we looked at to this blog post.

The students also started working on building a new vocabulary word wall for ourselves.  If they did not finish this in class, it was homework.

The last opportunity to retake the Elements of a Story test will be tomorrow after school.  Please have your child notify me in advance if they plan on doing this.  Grades have been posted online.

Homework: Finish Word Wall words and silent read for 20 minutes.
