In Language Arts today the students learned about onomatopoeia and personification. We discussed their meanings and looked at examples.  We also practiced identifying hyperboles in song lyrics and we explained what the author actually means. I have included the example videos we watched to this blog post.

The students also continued to work on their rough draft for the resolution of “All Summer in a Day”. They went back into their draft to make sure their story was written from a third person limited perspective and followed the elements of a science fiction text. The students also added dialogue and imagery to their story.  If they wanted to try to add other types of figurative language, they were allowed to do that too. If students wanted to finish this at home, they were allowed to do so.  Otherwise, this was filed in their writing folder in the classroom.

Lastly, we began brainstorming ideas for a poem about themselves.  They focused on ideas that make them who they are. If they did not finish this in class, it was not assigned as homework. They will be given more time to work on it again in class tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
