In Language Arts today the students reviewed the slip or trip activity from Friday and they were given the answer to the mystery.
We also spent time in class reviewing our new NewsELA article about football and whether or not it is too dangerous for students to play. If students did not finish hovering for words they did not know and labeling the text features, it was assigned as homework.
Lastly, we checked out library books today!
I noticed that many students forgot to do part of the NewsELA article on Earth’s Atmosphere for homework. I do allow students to go back and complete work that has not been completed and submit the assignment late. All late work must be turned in by November 2nd for the 1st marking period. If the assignment the student is making up is on the computer, it is the job of the student to tell me they have gone back and completed their work after the assignment has been graded. If an assignment is incomplete, I will mark it on Parent/Student Connect.
Progress reports were sent home with students today! Please ask your child if they received one. I print a breakdown of each students’ grade if I am sending home a progress report instead of submitting my concerns to the office. This way, families can see exactly what needs to be done to improve. I sent home reports for any child who has 70% or lower in Language Arts.
Have a great evening!
