In Language Arts today the students continued to practice author’s purpose by sorting more statements based on the reason why they were written.

The class also continued to analyze the poem, “On Turning Ten” by participating in a gallery walk where they worked in groups to answer comprehension questions. One of these questions asked them to identify the author’s purpose for writing the poem. After the activity, the students presented their posters to the class.

We spent time in class learning the last four types of text features. Tomorrow we will be doing a class activity where the students have to identify examples of text features.

Lastly, we continued to learn about prefixes by identifying the meaning of common prefixes and determining how to use them in front of root words.

Have a great evening and don’t forget tomorrow is a half day!
