In Language Arts today the students began by learning about prefixes, suffixes, and root words. We will continue to learn about this as our grammar lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next three weeks. The students were also assigned prefix, suffix, and root word practice lessons on Moby Max. There are four of them that need to be completed by October 4th. If a student scores 79% or lower on a lesson, they will need to ask me to reset the lesson and then redo it.
After our grammar lesson, the students learned about why authors write. We discussed that the acronym PIE can be used to remember that authors write to persuade, inform, and entertain. For many students, this was a review from elementary school.
Lastly, the students began learning about text features that add extra information when they read. We will continue looking at various text features throughout the rest of the week.
Have a great evening!
