In Language Arts today the students spent time participating in two group activities.  The first one is called “The Last Word”. The students used their double entry journal from yesterday to share one of the quotes they selected with the rest of their group.  Then, the groupmates commented on what the quote made them think.  After going around the table, the person who originally read the quote shared their thinking.  The students also reflected on how some of their ideas were similar while others were different.

The second group activity we did is called Rainbow Write. The students worked together to write a CER paragraph focusing on the conflict of “Tuesdays of the Other June”. We will be presenting these group CERs in class tomorrow.

Tonight is the last night for conferences.  Ms. Taha and I will be together in room 41.  These conferences are student-led. Our students have been working very hard to reflect and prepare what they have done during first marking for their families. We are asking that they present to their families first and if there are questions afterwards, a teacher can come to discuss. If the family has no questions, they are not required to speak with teachers and can move on to another classroom. Conferences will begin at 3:30 and end at 6:30.

I hope to see families tonight that were unable to attend on Monday!
