Today in Language Arts the students talked about how to effectively write a CER response. We did this by participating in the Slip or Trip activity.
Each student became a crime scene investigator and was responsible for gathering evidence about two characters, Arthur and Queenie, after Arthur’s mysterious death. The students read the police report which included a picture and a written statement from Queenie. It became the job of the students to determine if Queenie was telling the truth or lying. They discussed with their partners, gathered textual evidence to support their thinking, and explained how their evidence supported their claim. At the end of class, they wrote a CER paragraph based on the information they gathered.
The results of their investigation will be revealed on Monday!
I am in the process of updating grades. If something is added to the gradebook but there is no score for it, the computer automatically thinks the score is a zero. I have updated all grades with the exception of their AOTW on Earth’s Atmosphere. Some students do have a score and others have a blank space which makes their grade appear lower than it actually is. I will absolutely have every students’ grade updated by Sunday evening. Additionally, I received many SSR Logs with no name today so if that assignment says missing in the gradebook, it is possible the assignment was submitted with no name.
Have a fantastic weekend!
