In Language Arts today the students were given the entire class period to work on their theme project. They were asked to read a story, identify key vocabulary, figurative language, summarize what they read, and identify the theme using textual evidence to support their thinking. We will be presenting these projects in class tomorrow.
We have several events going on this week that I will be adding to today’s blog post. Tomorrow the book fair opens. Students will be given time during Language Arts to go to the book fair and shop. The book fair will be open all week, during conferences, and Math and Literacy Night.
Conferences will be taking place on Wednesday. We will start meeting with parents at 3:30. Ms. Taha and I will be meeting with families in her room (41) and Mr. Peterson and Ms. Jones will be meeting together as well. We will be meeting with families individually so the earlier you arrive, the more likely you are to spend less time in line. We will not be meeting with families after 6:30.
Lastly, Math and Literacy Night will be taking place on Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30. There will be stations throughout the school with lots of fun activities for the whole family! I hope to see you there! One of the stations will be a Read Aloud. At this station, 6th grade students who have signed up in advance will be reading their personal narrative to our guests. They must sign up outside of Ms. Dailing’s classroom in advance. Any 6th grader who reads their narrative will be given five summative points of extra credit.
Have a great evening!
