Today in Language Arts the students were introduced to folktales (with subgenres), dramas, and poetry. We used a flowchart to help us determine how to identify the genre of a text. This flow chart was copied and put into the student’s reading interactive notebooks and a larger copy was added to our classroom wall.
The students also spent time reviewing quotation marks. We will be moving on to a new grammar concept next week. Our class also reviewed box 2 of the close and critical chart. Lastly, the students spent time hovering for words they do not know in the story, “All Summer in a Day.” This is a story that we will be reading next week in class.
Personal Narrative updates: I am wrapping up the essays of one class this evening. I will post grades to parent connect when I am done. I am hoping to have the other two classes finished by next Wednesday.
