Today in Language Arts the students reviewed internal/external conflict.  We did this by looking at some examples we had already completed and making them more specific with what we know now.  Our second mini lesson focused on characterization.  We discussed what it means to look at a character’s feelings, thoughts, words, actions, and choices. We then looked at these concepts for our protagonist and antagonist in All Summer and a Day, Margot and William. I have added the link to the online textbook for students who need it.  If you did not see me after class for your password, I will not have it at home for you. Today was also our library day.  The students should have a good fit book that they are reading at home for one hundred minutes each week.

Homework:

1. Complete Margot and William Characterization in your Interactive Notebook.

2. Bring two dividers and tabs to LA tomorrow for your reading and writing strategies.

Coming Soon in LA:

1. Vocabulary Lesson One Done by November 14th

2. Interactive Notebook Check Two November 14th

3. Comprehension Test Two November 14th

Happy half way through the week!

  1. Hi ms Traylor,

For the online textbook , I was able to log in and everything but when I went to the story it only showed the pictures. In place of the words it said , this text is unavailable online please refer to your textbook. I don’t know if you can do anything about it. But I do not have the book with me.

  2. Dear Ms. Traylor,
The same thing that happened to Noor happened to me. I tried two computers at multiple different times but it still says “this text is not available online, please refer to your textbook.” Should I just refer to my memory to do the characterization?

  3. Dear Mrs. Taylor, I am sorry but I forgot to come to your classroom at the end of the day to get my text book from you and I am also confused about what we have to write in: words and in choices. I am unable to do my homework, so if you let me, I will do it tomorrow. -Muna chami
