Today in Language Arts, we continued our conversations about an author’s purpose for writing a story.  We began with a matching activity.  Students worked with their elbow partners to match examples to the appropriate reason why an author would write.  We then glued this to the left side of our interactive notebooks on page 8.  If you child has not purchased their interactive notebook yet, it is vital that they do so as soon as possible.  From this point forward, students will be behind if they are unable to get a notebook.  If there is an issue, please email me so we can resolve this.

The students listened to reading for the story, “I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie.”  While listening, the students were responsible for identifying the author’s purpose for writing this story.  We wrote these thoughts and our reasons down in our interactive notebook on page 7.  When we were done, we shared them with our elbow partner.  I have attached the link to the video on this blog post.

Homework:  Reading Log

Announcement: If you plan on purchasing a vocabulary book for your child this year, it is $13 and the money is due tomorrow.  If you do not want to purchase a book for your child, I will have school copies available for them to use.

Have a great evening! 🙂
